Dr. Nguyen offers a great deal of focus on preventive dental care because the more we can help prevent dental disease now, the better your oral health will be.
PREVENTION DENTAL CARE
The American Dental Association recommends for patients to visit their dentist twice a year. We like to be able to see each of our patients at least every six months, and go through and care for the entire mouth. This will allow us to diagnose any issues at the earliest possible stage, giving you a better prognosis when it comes to correcting those issues, whether tooth decay, bruxism, TMJ problems, gum disease, oral cancer, etc…

Here are a few of the most common preventative dentistry services we offer:

Routine Cleaning
Thorough cleaning of your teeth and gums will help rid them both of unwanted tartar and plaque buildup. We recommend that you keep regular bi-annual dental appointments for routine cleaning so you can enjoy a happy and healthy smile.
Dental X-Rays
Radiographs of teeth ensure there is not a problem going on within the mouth that the dentist cannot see just yet.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride treatments are a common dental procedure and offer a way to help strengthen and protect the teeth from unwanted decay.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are used to help prevent debris from sitting in crevices within your back teeth. This helps avoid unwanted tooth decay.

The chewing surface of your molars, or “back teeth”, often have grooves known as pits and fissures. These can easily trap food particles and unwanted plaque where your toothbrush bristles often cannot reach. Dental sealants are made up of resin materials that are easily applied and act as a barrier to prevent decay.
Oral Exam
An oral exam can look for early signs of oral cancer

Mouthguards
Mouthguards offer special protection of your teeth. Playing sports can cause injury to your mouth, and to protect your smile, a mouthguard should be an essential part of your athletic gears. Acting as a cushion your “mouthguard” helps to minimize the risks of possible broken teeth or injuries to your lips, tongue, or jaw. The best mouthguard is custom made to fit uniquely to your mouth and made by using a mold from your teeth.

Guidance
KPN Dentistry offers professional guidance and instruction for ways that you can routinely care for your oral health so you can project your one-of-a-kind smile for a lifetime.

Periodontal Disease is commonly known as “ gum disease” and is one of the most important oral health issues you need to be aware of and get professional care for.
Periodontal Disease
Healthy Gums
Inflamed Gums
Gum disease, also referred to as periodontal disease, is caused by plaque and is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. Poor oral hygiene, smoking and genetics are some of the risks factors for developing periodontal disease. Some of the warning signs of gum disease are gums that are red, swollen or bleed when you brush. Bad breath or bad taste in your mouth could be another sign. If you suspect you have gum disease, come and see us. The sooner you treat it, the better the prognosis. Early stage of gum disease can be reversed or controlled with a professional cleaning in our office and good homecare.

Periodontal disease, if left untreated, can lead to loss of teeth.
